The Extension Program is designed as a service for parents who need additional before- and after-school care for children enrolled at Woodlands. Extension offers students opportunities for art activities, games, reading and outdoor play. Students decide which activities they would like to participate in. A nutritious snack is available during afternoon Extension.
Students are not permitted to bring toys or electronic devices (cell phones, e-readers, electronic music devices, etc.) from home (just as this practice is discouraged during school time). Parents must undergo check-in and check-out procedures when dropping off and picking up their children at Extension.
Extension is open on school days only; not during vacation, conferences or staff days.
All students must be registered and prepaid before attending extension, Students who are not picked up at regular dismissal time are not registered and will not be allowed to attend.
Hours of Operation for Extension are: School-day Mornings: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. School-day Afternoons: 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Registration is due monthly along with prepayment before attendance is allowed. There are no reimbursements or refunds if a child is unable to attend.
The afternoon Extension Program is somewhat different at each campus:
The State Street Campus utilizes Neighborhood House of Milwaukee for afternoon Extension. Families register their student(s) through Neighborhood House for the program. Payment for the program is directly submitted to Neighborhood House. Please use this LINK for more information on the Neighborhood House program. State Street staff walk students over to Neighborhood House each afternoon. Parents pick up their students from Neighborhood House.
The Bluemound Campus currently has a school-based program. The staff working the program are Woodlands' staff and Woodlands manages the registration and payments. During the 2024-25 school year we have had to make adjustments to the program due to staffing challenges. NEW INFORMATION: Beginning November 4, 2024 the afternoon Extension program will be managed by an outside vendor. The vendor is named Right At School. Use this LINK to learn more about the Right At School program. A parent information session is planned for Wednesday, October 16, 2024 via Zoom.
