Grades 5 & 6
In Language Arts students refine reading skills, gain an appreciation of literature, apply writing using the Six Plus One Traits of Writing and develop speaking, listening and technology skills. Sixth graders participate in forensics, a public speaking and performance competition.
Our new math curriculum is a standards-based program based on the greatminds.org series of Eureka Math. With a technology-focused approach through a new program called Zearn, students have ample opportunities to exhibit and apply their mathematical skills learned through daily instruction. In Social Studies, students develop an understanding of their lives in a simulated approach to learning history. United States history is presented in a two-year cycle. In Science, students explore their world using a hands-on approach within the scientific method framework. A two-year cycle covers physical, life and earth science concepts.
