Woodlands School Unit descriptions
4K & 5K Diversity Project 4-year-old Kindergarten (Children’s Place) Children’s Place, a four-year-old kindergarten program, is based on the “High Scope” philosophy of learning and teaching. Classroom activities and teaching experiences revolve around several key developmentally appropriate experiences. Through a hands-on approach to learning the students are introduced to Language, Math Concepts, Time For Living (our character education curriculum), French, Music, Physical Education, Art, and Library Skills. The morning focuses on academic experiences while the afternoon option focuses on lunch, rest time, literacy experiences, and outdoor activities (weather permitting). 5-year-old Kindergarten The 5K program is a full day developmentally appropriate program, designed to expand each child’s abilities by drawing from his/her interests, experiences, and background knowledge. The children are engaged in hands-on activities in Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies. The children also participate in the specialty classes of Art, Music, Physical Education, French, and Library. |
