The theme of the 2011-2012 school year is “Painting the Earth Green -- The Woodlands Way”. We invite all members of our world: parents, staff and students, to celebrate our guiding principles and Time for Living principles.
We began the 2011-2012 school year with "One School, One Book", and we all read Jean Craighead George's book "My Side of the Mountain." The main character, Sam Gribley, exemplifies all of our Time for Living character principles, as he learns to lives in tune with the earth for an entire year. Sam builds a home in the woods and lives in harmony with the animals and individuals that he encounters.
As a component of Time for Living, we will continue to have the small families (students 1st – 8th grade are in multi-age groups lead by an adult). The small families will meet about six times during the school year and students remain with the same small family until they graduate. A family project will be introduced through the small families.
